Day 8 Protein Bar Breakdown

The No Cow Raspberry Truffle Bar

The last day of the 8 Day Protein Bar Breakdown is here.  I will provide a recap on all the different protein bars and give my opinion on which I thought was the best, but FIRST…..here is the breakdown of the last protein bar: The No Cow Raspberry Truffle Bar.

This bar has 160 calories, which is tied for the least amount of calories out of all the bars.  It gets its protein from organic brown rice protein and pea protein which are both plant based.  This helps provide the 20 grams of fiber and only 4 grams of total fat.  Since it is plant based protein, the bar is vegan, dairy free, gluten-free, and soy free.  It has 27 grams of total carbohydrates but 20 of those grams are from fiber alone which leaves only 1 gram of sugar in the bar.  It is comparable to many of the other bars in protein with 21 grams coming from protein.

My Opinion of the Bar

  • Huge fan of plant based proteins
  • Very high in fiber
  • Low in total fat
  • Does not have the gritty texture some protein bars can have
  • Sweetened with Stevia
  • All natural, gluten-free, dairy free, soy free, and non GMO

Breakdown of the 8 Bars

You will notice that certain things are highlighted in the table above.  The highlighted boxes show which bar has the best nutritional value in each category.  Fiber and protein are the two categories that you are looking for a higher number and the rest of the categories you are looking for the least amount.  The No Cow Bar had the least amount of total calories and fat calories and the highest amount of fiber and protein.

My Opinion of All the Bars

I think the Quest Cookies and Cream bar was a fan favorite for many of my followers on Instagram and Facebook, and don’t get me wrong, I did like the flavor.  However, I think some of the other bars had more nutritional value and good flavor as well.  I know I mentioned in one of my previous blogs that I am not a fan of sucralose and a couple of the more popular bars have it as one of their ingredients.  Unfortunately, sucralose gives off a unique flavor so I can tell usually tell when it is present in food and drinks.  I think the Oh Yeah! One Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and the Luna Protein Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough were my favorites for taste.  They both tasted delicious and did not have the “gritty” protein texture that some of the bars have.  Even though the No Cow Raspberry Truffle was not one of my favorites for taste, I think it is the healthiest protein bar of all the ones I sampled.  I would probably try one of their other flavors next time.  This bar caters to many of the different food allergies that people may have.  It is:

  • gluten-free
  • dairy-free
  • lactose-free
  • soy-free
  • vegan
  • Non-GMO

Protein and Sweeteners in Each Bar
